about a 7

yesterday, i went to a bar with alex to meet one of his older friends named Jon ( i think...). the name is pronounced abit like "yon" though. he's a 28 year old who looks abit english if you ask me, and works on a... uh.. watchamacallit.. a gas platform? XD ah well you get the idea. if you imagine some oil platform... and before there is oil there usually is natural gas. i found out some interesting facts, and its one helluva interesting yet dangerous job. not to mention, high paid XD

anyway, some facts i found out.. it costs half a million to use a hugeass crane for 6 hours. the crane's wheels ( cant think of a proper word) are almost 3m in diameter? or more? so go imagine how big that thing is. whoo. then i also found out that if a pocket of oil is not more than 8 meters deep, people are not gonna be bothered to extract it . also, its a job that requires logic, common sense and being able to remain calm in situations, or there goes your job :P Jon had lots of interesting stories to tell of work, but i dont think i'lll blab them all here XD

anyway, this is the bar that we went to. We went there at 5 ish, so its obviously not crowded. However, this bar is special, because it brews its own beer. asking me, thats nice but its still beer and i do not like beer XD. asking the two men i was with, they'd enjoy it much better. Alex compares it to cheap chocolate and yade (my favourite uberdelicious chocolate)... and he said it makes beer you buy from stores taste watered out. they had interesting beer that had flowers and herbs too , although jon calls it girly beer XD ( while alex was ordering, he came back and said "he wanteed me to drink girly beer!" hahahahah )
so.... after 4 cups of beer or so... and a whisky or two... men have to be men and prove their manhood by.... placing their hands over the candle cup thing and leaving it there till the flame extinguishes. as you can see, both got soot on their palms, and jon even had a mild burn. XD

one thing i did enjoy about that place was ze nachoooosssss. deilig. delicious. mei wei ke kou. we had two servings of that cuz it was that good. *drooling at the memory*

anyway, we left the place near midnight i think. and after.... alot of drinks. i go to a bar and order coke.. and 7 up....... XD wahahaha. got some other drink too, but that tasted like sprite with some light alcohol thingy. the other two on the other hand...................... lets just say things got much funnier XD they werent shit drunk at least, and still had sense and reasoning. at least, for alex XD. jon was just.... ... happy. XD so before hopping over to another bar, i got a nice shot of the sky at midnight, which was really nice and beautiful.. but within half an hour, the orange turned a very nice shade of rich pink, before fading off and leaving behind grey clouds. and thats how the sky remains, still as bright as the pic below i guess, just minus the orange. thats the darkest i've seen the sky go in summer down here XD

the other bar was near home, and jon went eating leaves all the way to the loo... XD . well, except for the tree nearest to our table, the other leaves were herbs so they were actually eatable. wahahhaha XD i got a vid of it i think. alex had some herb shoved in, and people at the loo probably thought jon was selling weed. XD ANYWAY, it was fun, i have yet to see fights in norway (and hopefully i do not) , and i was so glad to be back home in bed. the krazies will know i malfunction after 9pm. same applies in norway.

i conclude with a pic i took in the afternoon two days ago when i went to play pool with alex.

flufffff

i start off with a lovely fluffy dandelion, which is 5 times the size of those you find in singapore. much more fun to blow XD.

this was when i decided to climb down to the river to this pile of rocks, since it was low tide and there was a convenient path of rocks to walk over to the rock i'm sitting on. the rocks we had to cross were quite slippery though, and thankfully we didnt have to get wet. Oh, and even though its summer, i'm still walking around with a sweater. depends on the weather i guess, and what we do. when we went to the fort i was comfortable enough in a singlet.

this is some really cute chick that came hopping our way, within a meter of us (thats actually quite near if you measure ). curious lil thing, and very cute XD

hum de dum, i think i'm not as verbose as my last season of blogging. but at least i'm putting up a few pictures, and writing something. saw this lovely flower here, and i like it alot so i'm putting it up!

ze fort

First of all today, we have my very first oil painting! woooooo~!! its a decent first attempt with painting... but i need more work to get the colour blending right... not easy.. XD and the photo makes it look more pinkish than red. oh well, at least its obvious what i was trying to paint XD

A couple of days ago, we went for a longish walk to the fort nearby.. which was a very nice walk because you get to hear birds singing in the trees.. and not boring crow caws. i recorded a short video clip, but i dont know how it turned out yet, have been too lazy to check. the walk to the fort included going up a small path on a green hill with lovely green trees, as seen in the pic below XD

the pic below shows the overview of the fort at the end of the path.. there are actually a few people around in sun bathing wear and lying around in the grass. the white building you see there, i didnt go into.. because you have to pay quite a sum to get in, and i wasnt feeling rich XD
However, there was another building which we could look into... small rooms basically... one room actually held a biggish well. it was dark in there, so the water looked black. and it was kind of barred up, like some jail. to add to the creepy effect, its next to this wall where a sign says something like "norwegian patriots were shot at this spot" wah. Another room held a mini church with a fireplace..

The well is located on the middle of the pic, on the right of the corner of the building. Think you can roughly see a signboard on the wall... oh, and we could climb all over the place, so you can see people standing on top of the grassy part...

All in all, it was something to see, and it was OLD. very very old. i shall conclude with a picture of the view from the fort, looking out to the ocean

zoo n night safari

finally i decided to drag out my laptop charger and connect it to a powersource so i can finally upload pics onto my blog. woohooooo~ this short entry will consist of pics at the zoo and night safari, but only a few since i'm still quite lazy to blog XD

first of all, i start with two cockatoos humping away, i got to see the full process since it is quite a short ritual anyway. it was quite funny cuz after the mating process ended, the male cockatoooooo started squaking really loudly while strutting up and down a branch. looked every bit like saying " IMA MANNNNNNNN" XD wahahaha

Here below, we have me and alex at the night safari holding a rainbow something snake. it didnt look rainbow at all to me though. but still, you get to see my oh-so-happy grin at getting to finally hold a snake . YAY!

However, they wouldnt let us hold this one... i wish i could though, it was 30 kg, and nice to touch (of course i touched it X) ) and i help debunk the myth again that snakes are icky and slimey.. they are actually just cool, soft and smooth to touch.. very nice.

Finally, this is my last picture for this post.. my favourite picture that i took while "holidaying" with alex in singapore. WHITE TIGERS! i love this picture cuz the stripes show nicely, good colours at the background, and if the pic was bigger you can even see the blue of the eyes of the tiger that is looking towards the cam. This pic features one male and one female tiger, the female is the one lying down.

i actually managed to get a short video of the female white tiger playing pouncing onto another... but i'll see what i can do about showing that.. i'm too lazy to find out how to upload videos on youtube and stick em here for now.

home sweet home

i'm back in norway, safe and sound, and i was actually able to sleep on the flight! woohoo! XD the plane wasnt very full, and there were many empty seats around.. so alex and i had three seats to share. more space= better chances of sleep.

nothing too exciting to blab right now cuz i'm running low on energy, although i'm trying to keep awake to adjust the to the time... summer's beautiful down here.. and the dandelions are HUGE. just got back from grocery shopping, gonna unpack more stuff, one third of the way through only .

i decided to stick my cam out the window this morning to take a nice pic of the sky... trying my best to not include the HDB flats blocking the lovely view.

Quite a decent pic at least, not too bad.. took another shot with a different shoot mode.. i wish i could paint skies like that hehe... its just so serene X)
