HAPPY NEW YEAR

happy new year to all, and happy birthday to my eldest bro... on this side of the world, there is still another two hours before new year. however, it seems so much different since they are allowed to set off rockets and stuff here. besides, the weather is good today, no hail/sleet/snow/rain and its -3 since i checked in the morning... maybe the temperature has dropped... but still, its very good condition to set off fireworks!!

i havent been blogging much lately since i've picked up a new hobby, KNITTING! the best way to make a norwegian grandma like you!! XD kidding kidding, i've been wanting to learn knitting since i saw mum knitting during my ice skating days... not too long ago i had asked her to teach me too, but we couldnt find the knitting needles. anyway, his mom Mary has knitted tons of stuff, from beanies...to sweaters.. to socks..and even gloves, scarves and clothing for the 2000+ dolls she has made. She first learnt how to knit at age SIX.

SIX.

and here i am learning how to knit at age... 19. damn i feel smart... XD and by age 8 she knites her own sweater with designs and lil creatures on it. but better late than never! its a nice skill to pick up at least, although the climate in singapore isnt suitable for woolen scarves and such. however, i intend to master the basics of knitting first, and when i'm done with my target projects, i'll ask mom how she makes the shawls... she's REALLY good at making shawls, i just hope she hasnt forgotten how XD

hmmm... what else have i been doing... we went out to Molde, a nearby town and walked around the mall abit.. unlike the malls in singapore, the malls here are very clothing oriented. XD its either clothes or shops similar to that of Isetan. And they have nice shops selling xmas decor. seems like people here tend to decorate their house with xmas stuff alot, since almost every house we drive past in the dark will have xmas decorations... some nice ones i've seen are little reindeer outlines made out of a string of lights, or real live pine trees decorated simply with lights but the simplicity makes it nice. which reminds me... they have deer and swans in norway, which is cool considering i see swans in singapore too. the little deers tend to cross the road, so on the first day of driving to his parents house, we had to swerve to avoid deer. XD

dinner here was good once again... its the same as dinner for xmas, with riskrem!! (rice cream) the table was decorated by alex's bro's gf and his mom.... it was very nicely done with stars and silver candles, and some glittery mesh metal stuff. i'm looking forward to the fireworks at midnight here, and i hope i'll be able to take some really nice shots. HOWEVER, the fireworks are damn loud to set off. maybe i'll hide in the house and take pics from there XD

alrighty, i'll go back to my knitting!

*HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
